I had a call from the surgery today to ask me to go in for repeat blood tests in 2 weeks. OK, I KNOW that should have put my mind at ease, but it hasn't. I've now picked up my blood results and have got the following: Platelet Anisocytosis, Platelet clumps, Poikilocytoses, high blood cell ditribution width and Retulocytosis. I started to look all this stuff up on the internet and have given myself nightmares. Anyone have any ideas on all this?

Sorry Jean, can't advise, I know that saying "don't worry" is easier said than done and think you should call your GP to ask what this potentially could mean. It's also possible that the nasty tummy bug you've had and still suffering from might have influenced your blood readings.
Hope you get some answers soon,
Love,
Barbara XXXXX

Actually, Barbara, that's a VERY good point. Doh - I didn't think of that.
How did you get on at the docs? Been wondering how you are?
Tarty - will ring you tomorrow
Lots of love to all Jeanxxxxx

Hi Jean Sorry I can't help, the only problem I have had with platelets was the count went off the chart but that was due to the RA. Maybe speaking to your GP would explain things and put your mind at ease. Joy

Sorry Jean, I also can't really help but think Barbara's point might be very valid. I do know that my platelets go haywire when RA is active.
Thinking of you Diane x

Sorry Jean but don't have any advice to offer but agree with Barbara that the tummy bug could have had an effect. How is that now - has everything settled down?

Jean, I can understand your worry. Platelets can show RA inflammation I was told. I agree your recent illness may have affected results.
Take care

HI Jean, I think Barbara is probably right and the bug has maybe upset your blood results. They probably want to repeat them in 2 weeks to give you chance to settle down in case of something like that being the cause. I think though, now you've been googling, it would be best for you to ask the GP to explain what the results mean and hopefully put your mind at rest.
Love and hugs, Doreen xx

Hello Jean B Why dont you google Supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus instead and I can always find more for you if you fancy googling more. I know its hard not to worry ( i have a diploma in it) but if it was something big they would have you down there the next day. Perhaps you can give yourself a treat instead...... maybe ehhm your 5am special? Sending you a big hug Mari x

OH Jean lovely,
You know you told me you tear the info in the meds packs up? Well, likewise, I really really wouldn't advise looking on the net at all! You will worry yourself sick and that is not good for you..
I agree it may well be the bug you've had/have plus bloods really do change SO much and frequently. Also, if, God forbid, they were concerned it was anything serious they would definitely of had to you asap....They don't usually mess about with worrying blood results.
I have been called back about four times regarding a platelet reading. I kept myself up all night, sweating with anxiety etc tec , only to be told by the nurse it was something like 2 over the required level! SO, it may be another Dr has read the results and written re-do on the form........
Praying for you and am here, Amanda

Try not to worry Jean, i know thats much easier said than done but u have been poorly bound to have an effect xx Hope you feel better soon, Mari's idea of a treat sounds a good idea... ...5 am? or does that say SAM, in which case...NOT FIREMAN Sam? That will take your mind of your worries...! ;) xx

Dear Jean,
so sorry to hear about your blood tests, I hope they manage to get you sorted out soon
these things are a worry when you dont know what they mean and I too have often scared myself looking on the internet for them, since I had the rib pain, I have seen on net, pluerisy, chest infection, fibromyalgia, chostonchronditis, etc, etc,
perhaps you could ring your gp for some answers, good luck,
Ellie

Hi Jean, I hope phoning the gp will help to ease your mind. I don't really know what they all mean but I've scared myself to death many times and all to no avail! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.
